the system "thought control"

You know what record rules? This one. The System was a peace punk band from the UK, formed in 1980. Their first two seven-inches were released on Flux of Pink Indian's label, Spiderleg. They went on tour with Flux and Crass. This LP, however, never saw the light of day until 1997, through the help of Profane Existance and Skuld records.

Generally speaking, "Thought Control" has a sound not unlike other peace punk bands of the time (RP, Crass, Flux, etc.). What sets them apart is their inclusion of Discharge and goth/Bauhaus/UK Decay influences, setting the stage for a beautiful pastiche, the likes of which haven't traveled into these ears often, and certainly not this perfect! The lyrics deal with both the political and the personal/depressive issues of living in a system to which there is no alternative.

So check it out!
